Larry H. Miller Dealerships Hires Michael L. Van Orden as Chief Information Officer
Rourk Kemp, chief financial officer for Larry H. Miller Dealerships, today announced the appointment of Michael L. Van Orden as chief information officer for the dealership group.
“Mike is a seasoned professional, and his knowledge base and extensive retail experience fit perfectly with our business,” said Kemp. “We know Mike will help us continue to improve the infrastructure, systems and data that support our organization, and we welcome him to our executive team.”
Van Orden will lead the information technology and computer systems teams within the dealership group, including providing strategic IT guidance and direction of the company while maintaining a stable and secure infrastructure, and providing accurate timely information.
Van Orden has more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry. Most recently, he served as chief technology officer at Sportsman’s Warehouse for 18 years, where he was responsible for overseeing IT, including the management and development of a team of IT employees, budgeting, contract negotiations and strategic planning. He’s also held IT positions with Wells Fargo and Litton Guidance & Control Systems.
Van Orden was born and raised in the Salt Lake City area. He attended Granger High School and the University of Utah, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Management. He continues to work with and speak to students regarding IT at the local universities. In 2004, he was named a “Top 15 Up and Coming IT Executive” by RIS News.
